Professor Zhang served as a visiting scholar at Simon Fraser University in Canada, Sofia University in the United States, Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, and the University of Toronto in Canada. His research direction is strategic planning, organizational strategy management, business model research, and logistics supply chain management. Prior to those titles, he had gained PhD and Master degrees in fields of Business Management and Philosophy.

Prior to his pursue of academic journey, he served as the CEO and President of one of the biggest state-owned maritime shipping company in China. His innovative strategy in corporate management has helped company traverse through numerous hardships to where it is at today. Upon departing the company, he became an active investor in multiple field in China, including biotech, food chain, supply chain optimization, real estate, and cultural innovation.

Professor Zhang has wrote many papers regarding the global economic trend and business operations and those insights have been published and praised in core journals globally. His translation of "Niche Behavior Study" and his own book writings such as "The Rise of Niche", "Ugly Duck Management", "The Study of Crowdfunding", and "The Deep Look into Silicon Valley - Paradigm Shift of the Future " are widely acclaimed in Chinese Canadian community. He is also praised by many leading entrepreneurs in Chinese Canadian community by calling him the Founder of China's Niche Behavior Study.

He now still served as independent director and board members in many companies across the world. His knowledge in identifying economic trend and early insights into the future technology has helped many entrepreneurs and led his followers gain significant financial returns from investing into technology.

Besides academic research, investment, and business management, he is also active in philanthropy world at Vancouver, Canada. He had co-founded and served as the current Chairman of Chinese Canadian Heritage and Future Foundation, dedicated in educating and spreading of Chinese Canadian's history and contribution to the Canadian Society.
